Admissions Criteria for School Nursery

At St Matthias we admit a maximum of 26 children to our nursery class each year. Children are enrolled a term after their 3rd birthday. For example, if your child was born on the 1st January 2026, they will start in the spring term (after Easter holidays).

For children who have a 15 hour code we offer a 5 day a week AM session, (Monday – Friday 8:30-11:30am). If your child is eligible for free school meals, we welcome then to stay for a free lunch (12 -1pm) and then be collected at 1pm. Some parents do request a PM session instead of an AM session, or 15 hours spread over two- and- a- half days, these are questions I welcome you to ask when making an enquiry.

If your child is eligible for a full time fully funded place and you are in receipt of a 30 hour code, please let the school know and your child will be given a full time space. (8:30 – 3:30pm, 5 days a week). To make an school nursery application please complete this form, accompanied with the following documentation.

• Child’s Red Book
• Child’s Proof of birth (Full Birth Certificate)
• Proof of current home address (Utility Bill, Tenancy Agreement, Current Council Tax Letter) *We do not accept mobile phone contracts or statements.
• Parent’s Photographic Id (Passport, Driving Licence or Resident Card)
