Sports Premium Funding

he Department for Education (DfE) are spending over £450 million on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools over 3 academic years.

The funding is allocated directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all pupils.

Year 6 Swimming Ability

Our Children engage with swimming lessons at Clissold Leisure Centre whilst they are in Year 4.

2020-21 Y6 cohort

Our most current year 6 cohort of children attended these lessons in 2018-2019.

  • From this cohort of pupils, 64% of the children were able to swim at least 25 meters unaided by the end of their block of lessons in year 4, and by the end of year 6 40% of the children were able to swim at least 25 meters unaided. 
  • 23/39  pupils from this cohort were able to use a range of strokes effectively.
  • 22/39  pupils from this cohort were able to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

2019-20 Y6 cohort

This cohort of Y6 children attended these lessons in 2017-2018.

  • From this cohort of pupils, 20% of the children were able to swim at least 25 meters unaided by the end of their block of lessons in year 4, and by the end of year 6 40% of the children were able to swim at least 25 meters unaided. 
  • 8/27  pupils from this cohort were able to use a range of strokes effectively.
  • 9/27  pupils from this cohort were able to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
